It was recently announced that USAID is stopping or scaling down a large number of aid programs in Africa. This news once again underlines the vulnerability of dependence on donor financing. While aid agencies and NGOs have historically played an important role in the continent's development, real progress is only possible through economic development.

At Oxano Capital we believe that economic independence is the key to lasting impact. By investing in innovative and resilient companies, we not only help African companies grow, but we also create an ecosystem in which companies can operate independently without being structurally dependent on Western subsidies or development aid.

Sustainable capital not only offers economic stability, but also the freedom to develop local solutions for local challenges. That is the core of our mission: to support companies that are not only profitable, but also stimulate employment and social progress.

Recent developments at USAID make it painfully clear that resources from the West can never be a long-term solution. It is time to invest in local SMEs and thus in structural growth. That is what we, together with our partners, work on every day.
