Notably, Ethiopia and Ghana are investing in bamboo cultivation, with Ethiopia having 16,000 hectares and Ghana having 4,000 hectares of plantations, providing sustainable raw materials for the construction and furniture industries.1
Bamboo's versatility in construction, textiles, and handicrafts, as well as its use in flooring, roofing, furniture, and innovative bamboo bicycles in Kenya, highlights the growing emphasis on value addition. Additionally, the industry contributes to job creation and income generation, providing livelihoods for 200,000 people in Cameroon.
